YEAR 9

Our Year 9 Science/STEAM students put their problem-solving skills to the test on Wednesday as they represented our school in The National Science and Engineering Challenge competing against local schools. 

Throughout the day, students tackled a range of exciting hands-on challenges, including:

🌉 Building bridges to hold increasing weight

🏡 Designing eco-friendly homes to withstand wind and rain

⚡ Planning electricity networks for a city

🐟 Creating effective fish traps

💨 Designing efficient wind turbines

✈️ Building and testing gliders

💡 Deciphering coded messages using fibre-optic technology

We were incredibly proud of the way our students worked together - encouraging one another, sharing ideas, and celebrating each success as a team. Their teamwork and determination were on display all day as they earned valuable points for our school.

Congratulations to all of our Year 9 participants on a fantastic effort! A huge thank you to the South Gippsland Bass Coast Local Learning & Employment Network, the University of Newcastle, and all the sponsors and volunteers who made this incredible opportunity possible.

We're already looking forward to taking on the challenge again next year! 

YEAR 7

Year 7 Science Week: Butter Making Workshop

As part of our KSC Science Week celebrations, all Year 7 students will be participating in an engaging hands-on butter-making workshop with Burra Foods on Monday 17th  August.

To take part in this exciting activity, students are asked to bring a screw-top jar (similar to the attached photo). During the workshop, students will explore the science behind butter production and create their own butter sample, which they can take home to share and enjoy with their family after school.

Jars can be brought to school ahead of the activity and will be stored safely until students’ scheduled workshop session.
