PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Happy JJAMM Week. This week has been dedicated to celebrating JJAMM—Joseph, Julian, and Mary MacKillop. At St Mary MacKillop College, we uphold the charism of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, founded by Father Julian Tenison Woods and Mary MacKillop. Mrs Alison Wright, Director of Faith and Mission, has organised a series of activities, including JJAMM Donuts, Py-JAMMA Day, and our Feast Day Mass on Thursday. Solomon House is also holding its annual fundraiser during JJAMM Week in the form of a school Walkathon. The funds raised through today’s casual dress day will be donated to the Solomon House charity Fight MND. Thank you to Mr Jesse McDonald, Solomon House Leader, for coordinating the Walkathon.  

Last week, it was encouraging to see the Grade 6 students from local primary schools attend their second Transition Day. Led by Mr Damien Hirst, Transition Coordinator, and supported by many teachers and learning support officers, the activities provided the students with a valuable experience in our school environment. 

A reminder to parents, guardians, and carers that students are expected to arrive at school between 8:30am and 8:45am each day. Arriving by 8:45am ensures students begin the day positively by attending Homeroom, which commences at 8:51am. We appreciate your ongoing support in encouraging punctuality and preparedness for learning. 

The House Leaders have introduced a new process for managing students out of uniform. As part of this process, parents, guardians, and carers will receive a notification when their child has been identified as out of uniform. For legitimate uniform issues, we ask that you provide a written note explaining the situation. Your support in helping students adhere to the correct uniform standards each day is greatly appreciated. 

The annual school production, Mamma Mia, is happening next week. If you have not yet purchased tickets, there is still availability for the Friday evening performance (14 August) and the Sunday afternoon performance (16 August). We look forward to welcoming you to the show.
