Instrumental Music 

Congratulations to our Concert Band.  We took back the big trophy for Battle of the Bands for the third year in a row.  We went up against Lockyer and Laidley at Laidley SHS on Thursday May 29 and performed “Phantom of the Opera” and “Byzantine Dances” and won again.

We hosted Lockyer and Laidley on May 28 for Chamber Ensemble and the Flute and Clarinet groups are sounding so very good.  Very high curriculum level and very professional.

The ensemble musicianship of our Instrumental Music students has risen meteorically last week thanks to our Western Tour.  Our band combined with Lockyer and Laidley High Schools and travelled over 4 days to St. George, Mitchell, Charleville, Roma and Chinchilla.  We workshopped with many primary and high schools and performed for these schools as well.  Our students adapted quickly to tour life, packing and unpacking the bus, having our things ready to perform, solving problems and getting along with each other.

Thanks to those band members who came out on Saturday June 7 to the Toogoolawah show and helped the primary kids perform.  They love having you there to play with them.

That was a big two weeks for our band program.  Thanks so much to parents, teachers and admin for all your support and understanding to make our band the best they can be.
