Mr Peter Hargreaves
The Inter-House Cross-Country Carnival was held in Week 2, with the whole school out and participating in the event. We were again joined by the local Primary schools in a for the Brisbane Valley Cluster competition. Attendance at the carnival was excellent and this made for great competition with parents from both primary and secondary schools in attendance adding to the great atmosphere. Congratulations to all competitors, in particular our age champions for their efforts on the day. The overall winning house for the day was Coleman House.
Congratulations to the following Age Champions:
The Treefrogs Volleyball team have also been in action this term, and a massive congratulations is in order for their recent efforts and success. In the last 2 weeks Mr and Mrs Hargreaves took the girls away to compete in a Darling Downs competition held in Toowoomba and a Qld Schools competition at the Gold Coast. The team has been working hard over the past 2 years coming close to medals several times and have now broken through to achieve a Gold and Bronze medal at the Darling Downs and Queensland Schools cup, respectively. Well done girls and we look forward to the Beach Schools cup in July. This year for the first time we also had a boys team compete at the DD cup, and a special commendation goes out to these boys finishing 5th out of 12 teams in their division.
Lastly, Athletics Carnival hype is starting to build. I will be running nominations for athletics events during the Wednesday PDP class in Week 9. Nominations can also be made in person with me throughout week 9 for those students that miss out during PDP. The carnival is held over two days this year being June 26 & 27, which are the last two days of this term. Given the unpredictability of the weather I will still be running the high-risk event (High jump) before the main days in case of less than desirable weather at the carnival. I will also run the 1500m & 3000m race in the weeks prior to the carnival to allow for recovery time. A full schedule will soon be available on the TSHS website and Facebook page.
Well done to all our athlete’s and good luck for the Big carnival.
