Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

It's been lovely catching up with all of the children after a few weeks of long service leave. I must admit while I was away I kept up to date with what was happening via Seesaw but it's not the same as being back in person and seeing all those beautiful smiles. It was heartwarming to be greeted and to have conversations with children who wanted to share news and tell me all about what's been happening during my absence.

FIRST COMMUNION

Seven of our Year 4s received First Communion last Sunday.

During the Homily Fr Chinua asked a few questions about the sacrament and I was proud to see so many hands raised in response and to hear their loud and clear answers. Congratulations to all our Communion candidates and to Mr Brendan and Miss Debbie for preparing them so well. May I also take this opportunity to thank their families for the commitment shown in supporting the children to attend weekend masses, learn prayers and readings, etc.

EXCITING NEWS!  SAVE THE DATE!

Andrew Chinn is one of our favourite faith song composer/performers. We use many of his compositions for masses, special occasions, etc. We are fortunate in that he will be coming to SFX on Tuesday 14th October and facilitating music workshops with our classes.  We then invite all families to return to the church at 6pm where Andrew will facilitate a concert in which all our students have the opportunity to perform. There was much excitement when I let the children know Andrew is coming to our school in person, so we hope to see many of you there. It will be a wonderful evening. More details next term.

FEAST OF THE SACRED HEART/WHOLE SCHOOL PRAYER

Thank you so much for the donations of non perishable food and other items which you have been sending over the last few weeks.

John Paul College has been grateful to receive these and distribute them to those in need, particularly the homeless, within the Frankston Community.  Our school has agreed to continue providing goods throughout the year whenever possible.

Next Friday the 27th of June is the Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Traditionally this is a time when we celebrate God’s love for us and reflect on how we in turn can demonstrate love and compassion to others, particularly those less fortunate than ourselves.

In light of this forthcoming feast day we will be holding a Friday Morning Whole School Prayer and encourage the children to bring items to add to our donations throughout the next week.

You are welcome to join us for the Morning Prayer within your child’s class from

8:50 - 9:00am on Friday 27th June.

Warmest wishes and God's blessings,

Marion O'Brien
