Principal's Report

Saint Francis Xavier - Principal's Report

Term 2 - Week 9

Dear Parents and Friends of St Francis Xavier,

As we near the end of the term, I would like to take a moment to share some important staffing news with our school community. At the end of this term, Miss Marion has chosen to finish in her role as Deputy Principal. While we are certainly sad to see her step away from this leadership position, we are very pleased to share that she will remain on staff, continuing one day a week in her role as Education in Faith Leader.

Miss Marion has been an incredible Deputy Principal since taking up the role in 2019, just a few months after I first began as Principal here at St Francis Xavier. Her support, professionalism, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to our students and staff have helped shape a strong and connected school community. Miss Marion consistently goes above and beyond—whether that’s working behind the scenes to ensure things run smoothly, leading initiatives that build faith and connection, or stepping into the role of Acting Principal during times I’ve been away for extended periods.

We are so grateful for all that Miss Marion has contributed during her time as Deputy Principal, and feel incredibly lucky that she will remain a key member of our team. (If we’re lucky, we might even convince her to do the occasional Emergency Teacher day too!).

I am also very happy to announce that our Learning Diversity Leader, Miss Erin, will step into the role of Acting Deputy Principal until further notice. I know she will bring great energy, care, and capability to this leadership role.

First Eucharist

On Sunday morning, seven students from St Francis Xavier Primary School came to Mass to receive their first Eucharist. It was a beautiful and sacred celebration of the Mass led by Father Chinua. These children, supported by their parents and teachers have prepared well in their learning about the Eucharist and shown considerable  commitment to their faith journeys as they attended commitment Masses and workshops. I want to most sincerely thank Father Chinua, the parishioners of St Francis Xavier, our wonderful teachers Debbie Terry and Brendan Adcock and also Marion O'Brien, our Religious Education leader for all their work.

Hero Awards

At SFX, HERO stands for Helping Everyone Respect Others.

Students are awarded HERO tokens when they demonstrate respectful behaviour towards their peers, teachers, families, and the school community.

Once a student receives 10 HERO tokens, they complete their classroom chart and exchange it for a large token, which is then added to the HERO Wall in the Red Centre.

We are now just over a week away from announcing the winning house in our Semester One HERO Awards Challenge! At this stage, Beek is leading with 50 tokens, followed by Kardinia on 42, War-reen with 40, and Kurrong on 28.

It’s great to see so many students striving to make respectful and positive contributions to our school community—keep it up! The winning house will be the house with the most tokens at 3:15pm next Friday 27th June. That house will receive a lunch of chips and potato cakes and a special afternoon of activities in the final week of term.
