From the Principal & Assistant Principal

We hope you all enjoyed the opportunity for an extended weekend on Monday and were able to have a mini break with the family, especially during the busy term that we have had.

Year 3-6 Aqua Aware Program

Last week our Year 3 students completed their annual Aqua Aware Program, our Year 4 students have been attending Kyneton Sports and Aquatic Centre this week and next week our Year 5/6 students commence their program. Thanks to Sue Turner and our year level teams for their organisation and support of this very important program. Aqua aware is a life skill and we are required to ensure students have reached a certain level to enable them to be safe around water. We are very proud of all our students who have attended these sessions and have persisted through challenges to further develop their abilities.

Road Safety

We have been contacted by a local resident who is concerned about the safety of our students during pick up and drop off times, the resident has been monitoring where parents are pulling up, to pick up and drop off students. We understand that these times of day can be stressful and students don’t want to be late for school, however please ensure you are following all road safety guidelines. Several years ago the Macedon Ranges Shire commissioned a Road Safety Assessment for several schools in our area and made recommendations for how to improve traffic movement around our school. So far none of these improvements have been made. I have followed up with the Shire and I am waiting for a response.

Toilets

We have been experiencing ongoing concerning behaviour when students are using the toilets throughout the day. We have discussed expectations with all students using our SWPBS toilet matrix. Could you please have follow up discussions with your child at home regarding this matter. We would like to be able to ensure we provide clean and tidy spaces for your child to use during the school day.

Reconciliation Week

Thanks to Mr Bromley for preparing our whole school student performance at last week's assembly. The students performed several songs including ‘Beds are Burning’ by Midnight Oil. Congratulations to our students who performed in the band and vocally.

Planning Week

Please be aware that all teachers will be participating in their team planning day next week, this means there is a change to specialist classes for the week. The days are as follows:

  • Foundation - Tuesday

  • Year 1/2 - Wednesday

  • Year 3 - Monday

  • Year 4 - Thursday (Change to day students will remain on campus)

  • Year 5/6 - Friday

Planning days are important, as they allow our teachers to collaboratively plan for the following term. For those that have been keeping up to date with the new Victorian Government Schools Agreement negotiations you will note that in future, curriculum days may increase and teachers may use these days for this collaborative planning.

Reports and Parent Teacher Interviews

Please note that Semester 1 reports are opening next Friday 19th June, a notification will be sent via Compass. Parent Teacher Interviews are scheduled for the following week and in the first week of Term 3. The portal is already open for bookings.

Enjoy the final few weeks of term.
