What's On In 5/6

Buddies:
Our Grade 5/6 students recently had the wonderful opportunity to visit their buddies in Foundation, Warekila and Seedlings. The excitement was clear from the moment they arrived, with students eager to reconnect and spend quality time together.
During the visit, our Grade 6 students enjoyed creating a snakes and ladders board game which sparked plenty of smiles, laughter, and meaningful interactions. It was fantastic to see our senior students step confidently into a nurturing role, guiding and supporting their younger buddies while also learning alongside them.
Our Grade 5 students visiting Seedlings relished the chance to play, explore, and engage with their kinder friends using the toys and play equipment. While the students visiting Warekila, attended a mini excursion to the local park to learn about seasons and gather nature treasures! Both groups demonstrated kindness, patience, and leadership throughout.
These buddy sessions continue to be a highlight, fostering strong connections across year levels and creating lasting memories for all involved.
Questacon
Our Year 5/6 students have enthusiastically embraced the challenge of Questacon this term, an experience that continues to be a highlight of the year and one they eagerly anticipate. From the outset, students have been immersed in hands-on problem solving, working through complex tasks that require persistence, and collaboration.
A key part of the learning process has been trial and error. Students have explored ideas, tested solutions, and refined their thinking when things didn’t go to plan. While this has, at times, tested their patience, it has also fostered resilience and a deeper understanding of how learning often happens beyond the first attempt. The sense of achievement when a solution is finally reached has been incredibly rewarding for all involved.
We feel very fortunate to offer such a unique and engaging program to our students. It not only enriches their learning but also creates lasting memories and skills they will carry forward. We are looking forward to showcasing this experience during our upcoming Open Night.
STACEY HYMER INCURSION:
What a privilege it was to welcome Stacey Hymer to WPS to share her incredible journey and experiences with us! Students were inspired as they learnt about the importance of setting goals, developing a strong mindset, persevering through challenges, and looking after their bodies to perform at their best. It was an engaging and motivating session that encouraged everyone to believe in themselves and strive for their goals.
