What's On In 3/4

The 3/4s have had a fantastic couple of weeks since returning from camp, and we have been busy learning. We were impressed with the costumes the students wore on Sir David Attenborough’s birthday along with the artwork and writing pieces they created in his honour.
Kitchen
In the past few weeks, students created hand made pumpkin gnocchi with a sage butter sauce. The next menu focused on native ingredients. Students baked bread with a side of saltbush butter, with rivermint and honey tea. Thank you to all the parent helpers that have made our kitchen program so successful this term. Both the students and Teachers are very appreciative of you lending your time.
Garden
It’s hard to believe but Jerusalem artichoke season is upon us once again. As the leaves have begun to die, our 3/4 students have been using pitch forks to harvest the endless bounty of these hearty root vegetables from the garden. We have also harvested several potato varieties which we have grown in pots.
Maths – 3D shapes
This term in Maths, we have been learning about 3D shapes. Students have practiced identifying different types of prisms and pyramids, as well as how to use correct terminology to describe them. In week 4, we created our own 3D shapes using matchsticks and plasticine, housing them in triramas, which will be displayed on our school open night. We have also been learning about identifying the different types of angles. The 3/4 students have practised this by creating some eye-catching and colourful artworks.
