Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

In the midst of the confronting events shaping our world, it's crucial to acknowledge the abundance of blessings and the steadfast support we receive from one another. Despite the challenges we face, we're fortunate to be surrounded by countless sources of goodness and resilience. From the warmth of familial bonds to the camaraderie of friends, from the kindness of strangers to the unwavering dedication of essential workers, our lives are enriched by the presence of compassion and solidarity. The strength of our bonds and the sense of belonging fostered within our community serves as beacon of hope, guiding us and reminding us that we're never alone.

This term I have been all the more aware of the many moments of joy and inspiration that permeate our community. From the conscientious and dedicated manner in which our Year 3/4s took over the 5/6s responsibilities during last week's camp to the delightful peels of laughter from the Preps when I tell them I'm there to try their lunches! Steve showed me some of the camp photos which captured looks of sheer happiness on the children's faces as they encountered new experiences and took pride in their achievements. I love the opportunities to have conversations with the children as they arrive in the morning ready to share some interesting snippets of information which often bring a smile to my face. Every now and again a comment or gesture from a child or parent reminds me how lucky/appreciated/grateful/ I should feel.

Fire Carrier Commissioning Ceremony

This morning the staff and all student Fire Carriers went to John Paul College for the commissioning of the new Fire Carriers.  We were welcomed by two of the Bunurong elders who reminded us of the importance of respecting the land and people. Everyone was cleansed in a smoking ceremony before the new Fire carriers received a blessing to welcome them into the Fire Carrier community.
