Week 2 Term 2

Welcome back to all our families and students to what promises to be a term full of learning and fun!

Some things to look forward to:

This term is a few weeks longer than term 1 so it is full of great experiences. Some things we can look forward to this term is:

  • Project Rockit workshop on Belonging for Year 3/4 (Tuesday 30th April)
  • District Field Athletics at Ballam Park (Wednesday 1st May for some students)
  • Mother's Day Mass in St Francis Xavier Church (Thursday 9th May)
  • School Photos (Tuesday 14th May)
  • District Cross Country at Ballam Park (Friday 17th May for some students)
  • Year 3/4 Excursion to...Moonlight Sanctuary (Friday 31st May - more information to come)
  • First Holy Communion (Sunday 2nd June for some Year 4 students)

I'm sure that there will be more added across the term, so please keep an eye out in newsletter and Audiri for updates and information.

Home Learning

This week we began some home learning tasks to support the learning we are doing in class. Each week students will bring home a grid that will mainly involve Spelling, Reading and Maths, however it may also include extra tasks for Writing, Inquiry and Ed in Faith. Each child will have a home learning book to record the work they do. Readers can be swapped on a daily basis at school or books borrowed from the library. Please ask your child's teacher if you have any questions.

This week in Maths

This week in Maths we have been learning about multiplication. The photos below, from last week's lesson, show the students using Lego pieces to assist in creating an array to make multiplication number sentences.

This week in Inquiry

On Monday we went out after lunch into the school yard to look for a variety of different things as part of our term 2 Inquiry. We were looking for living things, non living things, things that used to be alive and things that are a product of a living thing. 3/4L joined us at the same time and it was fascinating what we found.

Lest We Forget!

Regards, Brendan.
