Term 2, Week 2

Welcome back to all our families and students to what promises to be a term full of learning and fun!

Some things to look forward to:

This term is a few weeks longer than Term 1 so we have plenty of time to fit in some amazing experiences! Some things we can look forward to this term is:

  • Project Rockit workshop on Belonging for Year 3/4 (Tuesday 30th April)
  • District Field Athletics at Ballam Park (Wednesday 1st May for some students)
  • Mother's Day Mass in St Francis Xavier Church (Thursday 9th May)
  • School Photos (Tuesday 14th May)
  • District Cross Country at Ballam Park (Friday 17th May for some students)
  • Year 3/4 Excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary (Friday 31st May - more information to come)
  • First Holy Communion (Sunday 2nd June for some Year 4 students)
  • Our end of term Sustainability Showcase, where we will be inviting families and carers into our space to have a look at the amazing Inquiry and Faith work students complete throughout the term.

I'm sure that there will be more added across the term, so please keep an eye out in newsletter and Audiri for updates and information.

Mathematics

We've certainly hit the ground running in our Maths sessions this term, with students practising multiplication strategies. So far we've been exploring arrays using Lego and counters, and we've done some open-ending investigating based on the story of the Old Man and the Coins. You can support your child in this by encouraging them to complete their Matific home learning activities each week.

Faith and Inquiry

In Inquiry this term, we are working on a unit called Our Blue Marble which is all about sustainability and taking care of God's creations. This week, students investigated the yard to try and identify living things, non-living things, once-living things and products of living things.

Home Learning

This week students received their home learning tasks to support the learning we are doing in class. Each week students will bring home a grid that will mainly involve Spelling, Reading and Maths, however it may also include extra tasks for Writing, Inquiry and Education in Faith. Each child will has been provided a home learning book to record the work they do. Readers can be swapped on a weekly basis at school, and students may read a library book or anything else that interests them when they complete their reader.
