Book Week – Symphony of Stories
What a wonderful Book Week we had celebrating this year’s theme, Symphony of Stories!
A special thank you to Mrs Dennehy for organising such engaging and creative activities based on four of the shortlisted books for the Book Week Awards. Her enthusiasm and thoughtful planning helped bring the stories to life and encouraged our students to connect with books in fun and meaningful ways.

Science Week
A big thank you to Mrs McIlroy for organising such a wonderful Science Week!
The children loved getting involved in the planting activity and were so excited to have a souvenir to take home. It was a fantastic hands-on experience that they thoroughly enjoyed!
Learning Through The Gruffalo
Our students have been enjoying exploring the much-loved story The Gruffalo. Through this engaging text, they have had wonderful opportunities to develop their vocabulary, strengthen their sentence-writing skills and deepen their understanding of texts.
The rich language and imaginative storyline have encouraged students to explore new words, construct more detailed sentences and develop their comprehension skills while having fun with the story.
Students also had the opportunity to develop their speaking and listening skills by retelling the story using their own words and acting out the different characters. Wearing their Gruffalo masks made the experience even more exciting and helped bring the story to life!

Learning About Money in Prep
Our Prep students have been busy learning all about money! Through hands-on activities and engaging games, students have been developing their understanding of Australian coins and notes and learning to recognise their different values.
They have been practising counting, sorting and matching coins, as well as using mathematical language to describe and compare amounts. Students have also had fun playing shop, giving them opportunities to use their maths skills in real-life situations.
It has been wonderful to see students building their confidence and developing their understanding of money through practical and meaningful experiences!
Thank you for supporting your children at home and celebrating their achievements. Your partnership makes such a positive difference to their learning journey.
The Preps should be very proud of what they have accomplished so far. We look forward to continuing to learn, grow and create many more wonderful memories together in Term 4.
Grade 1/2A:
Book Week Parade
Literacy
This month, Grade 1s have continued to learn new split digraphs where 'bossy e' helps to stretch the vowel sound including i-e (five), e-e (compete), and o-e (nose). They have also learnt that c and g make their soft sounds /s/ and /j/ when followed by e, i, or y.
Grade 2s have learnt about adding suffixes -y and -ly to create adjectives and adverbs, using the 'y to i' morphology rule, and the many alternative spellings for /ear/, /air/, /i/ and /o/.
In Writing, we have continued working on Information Reports, with students writing and creating detailed posters on Cassowaries and now a different australian animal of their own chosing. Students have loved using the iPads to research their animal and put together their report.
Maths
After wrapping up our multiplicative thinking unit, we moved into fractions. Our student teacher Miss Yin planned and taught some amazing and engaging lessons that helped students develop and consolidate their understandings of halves, quarters and eighths and the pattern of repeated halving that creates those fractions.
Over the last two weeks, we have been working on directions, turns and pathways where students have been learning to use directional, positional and ordinal language to give and follow instructions through movement, maps and written tasks. Students were able to quickly make the link between the fractions they had just learned and quarter, half, and three-quarter turns.
