Principal Post

Dear Families,
Weren't we blessed with perfect weather for our Year 3-6 House Cross Country event last Friday! What a great success it was! Our students tried so hard and we certainly have some talented runners! The students who have qualified to represent our school at the the District Cross Country event on Friday 8th May have been notified by Mrs Sullivan.
Congratulations to GREEN team (XAVIER HOUSE) who took home the School House Cross Country Trophy this year! How exciting and well done to all teams led so well by their Captains! Our thanks to the many parents who assisted our staff on the day and also to those who came to offer encouragement.Lastly a huge thank you to Mrs Sullivan for her organisation of a well planned school event!
Team Teach Professional Development Day
This week, our staff participated in Team Teach professional learning, focused on supporting all students to feel safe, included, and successful at school. Team Teach provides practical strategies to help staff build positive relationships, respond calmly to challenging situations, and support students in managing their emotions and behaviours.
Teachers explored approaches centred on de-escalation, understanding behaviour as communication, and creating supportive environments where every child can thrive. The training reinforced the importance of dignity, respect, and consistency when working with students, ensuring that all children feel valued and understood.
This learning strengthens our commitment to student wellbeing and helps us continue to create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment for every student at St John Vianney.
Staffing
Maria Porto, one of our valued LSOs at St John Vianney, will be leaving us on May 8th to take up a similar position closer to home. During her time at our school, Maria has worked with many of our students, always showing patience, kindness, and dedication. She has been a wonderful asset to our school community and will be greatly missed by both staff and students.
We thank Maria for all she has contributed to St John Vianney and wish her every success and happiness in her new role.
We are also pleased to welcome Bridget Hindle, who will be joining us as Maria’s replacement and will begin on May 11th.
