Kii Families,
What a busy, fun and productive term it has been! The students have worked incredibly hard across all areas of the curriculum, demonstrating curiosity, persistence and wonderful teamwork. Here is a look back at some of our biggest highlights from Term 3.
Climate Integrated Unit
In our Integrated unit, students dived into learning about climate, weather and environments. They explored different climate zones, investigated environmental impacts, and discussed meaningful ways we can care for our planet. The level of critical thinking and thoughtful discussion throughout this unit was truly inspiring!
Writing
Our young writers have been honing their skills across two key text types this term. During persuasive writing, students learned how to state a clear opinion, support their ideas with strong high-modality arguments and convince their reader. Then to finish off the term students researched fascinating topics, organising their facts into clear subheadings, introduction paragraphs, and concluding statements in their very own information reports.
Mathematics
In Maths, students have been strengthening their problem-solving and foundational skills across several key areas. We started with time, reading analog and digital clocks, and calculating elapsed time. Students then explored angles, by identifying, measuring and classifying in real-world shapes and objects. We have then spent time delving into multiplication & times tables, building automaticity with recall and mastering diverse strategies (such as array models, vertical algorithm and partitioning) to solve multi-digit multiplication problems.
Book Week Celebrations
Book Week was an absolute standout this term! It was fantastic to see the students engage so enthusiastically with the shortlisted books, share their favorite stories and participate in our school celebrations. The creativity on display during our door creations and costume dress-up day was amazing - thank you to all the families for supporting such a fun day that promotes a lifelong love of reading.
Gardening & MALPA
Students have loved getting their hands dirty in our gardening program this semester! Students have been exploring the life cycles of plants by studying different types of seeds, discovering what they need to thrive, growing classroom mushrooms and helping prepare our garden beds for upcoming planting. MALPA has also been a great way to learn about health, wellbeing and what to do in an emergency. We look forward to continuing these programs next term.
Thank You & Farewell
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful pre-service teachers who joined our team this term Siena in 3/4A and Jessica in 3/4B. Both Jessica and Siena brought so much energy, passion and dedication to our classrooms. We wish them all the very best as they complete their degrees and step into their exciting future careers in education.
Thank you to all our Grade 3/4 families for your continued support, encouragement and partnership throughout the term. We hope everyone has a safe, restful and wonderful term break, and we look forward to seeing all students return refreshed for Term 4!
