Newsletter - Term 1 - Week 4 PE/Sport

Our students have made a fantastic start to PE, being ready to learn and keen to take part in all activities. I urge everyone to make sure their son/daughter has a school hat otherwise they will not be able to take part in lessons outside. Some days the temperatures can be over 25 degrees by 10am and it is vital that our students develop healthy sunsmart habits. Applying sunscreen before coming to school and bringing a small sunscreen in their bags to reapply at lunch and recess is also advised.

Term 1 PE Lessons

In our lessons Prep-2 students will be exploring the different Fundamental Motor skills of run, jump, hop, skip and throw. They will develop their understanding of basic games emphasising the need for rules and safety. The Yr 3-6 students will develop their understanding of net/wall games through a unit on Newcombe and Tennis. They will use strategies to work in groups to help identify rules and fair play when participating in games activities.

District Swimming

The Richmond District Sports Association will be entering swimmers for the INM Division swimming finals. As our district does not hold a carnival for selection purposes, the only fair way to select swimmers is by way of time trials. These trials are open to swimmers in Grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 and must turn 9 years in 2024 to be eligible to enter.

The following students have nominated to take part in this event which takes place on Friday 23rd Feb at Richmond Pool;

9/10 Yr Olds 11 Yrs 12/13 Yrs

Andy Nguyen - MG Chloe Ta Le - BOC Austin Gersbach - FA

FIT Club

Thursdays 7.40am

FIT Club is back this term. Trinity Fit Club is a Free Before School activity open to all Trinity students every Thursday at 7.40am on the Oval or in the MPR if the weather is bad. The children will take part in a range of fun activities to get them moving. Senior students from St Kevins College will join us most weeks to run some sport or exercises to help get the students ready for learning. Please come along and join us!

Richmond Skippers Netball Club

You have probably noticed a keen group of Netballers practising before school on a Friday morning. This is a local netball team run by local parents Cecelia and Kate. The teams are always looking for new players in Yrs 3-6, so if your daughter is interested please come and get more information from me or email the team; richmondskippers@gmail.com
