SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

WORKING BEE REPORT

A huge thank you to several fabulous families who came to school last Saturday morning for a working bee in the school’s front garden! They laid new soil and compost and put mulch on. They also dug out lots of old plants, and made space for for us to plant some lovely new vegetation. They worked so hard and got a tremendous lot done in two hours. Thank you! We look forward to updating you with photos of the new improved spaces soon.

EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT

We are excited to announce that Trinity has partnered with Farmers’ Pick “Feed Our School” program! This means families and staff will be able to order weekly boxes of fruit and vegetables and pick up directly from the school, and even save 30%, compared to supermarket shopping! Please see the extra information in today's newsletter. Please come to a presentation to be held at next week's Assembly, to find out how you can be involved, start saving, and help us to raise money for our school

Year 3/4MG worked with Ms Belinda today. We learned that when we put food scraps into landfill, it creates “methane” - one of the gasses that cause global warming. So this is why we want to compost our food waste at Trinity. The students emptied the “castings” (worm poo) from our worm farms and we dug it into our soil. They also planted carrots and silverbeet. We look forward to making vegetable soup to share in Winter!

NUDE FOOD DAY - MONDAYS

We ask students to choose foods which create no rubbish to bring for lunch on this day. Some great ideas can be found at https://www.nudefoodday.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/HOW-TO-PACK-A-NUDE-FOOD-LUNCH.pdf
