Dear Families,
As we celebrate the feast of our patron saint, St John Vianney, we take time to reflect on his remarkable life. Living during the anti-Catholic French Revolution, St John Vianney faced many challenges and struggled academically.
Many believed he would never become a priest, yet through determination, perseverance and deep faith, he achieved his dream and was ordained in 1815. His life is a wonderful example of resilience and reminds us that with courage and persistence, we can overcome obstacles. This week, we encourage our students and families to reflect on the inspiring example of St John Vianney and to be grateful for the many gifts our school provides and the caring, faith-filled community that makes St John Vianney's such a special place.
St John Vianney's Feast Day Celebrations...
We are looking forward to celebrating St John Vianney's Feast Day with our school community! This special day is an opportunity for students to come together in faith, celebrate our patron saint, and enjoy a range of engaging activities.
The day will begin with our 1/2D Whole School Mass at 9:00 am, where we will gather as a community to reflect on the values and example of St John Vianney.
Following Mass, students will participate in an exciting Dance Incursion, with professional instructors working with each year level throughout the day in the Performing Arts space. The celebrations will conclude with a whole-school performance at 2:45 pm, where families are warmly invited to join us and watch our students showcase the dances they have learned.
Throughout the day, each year level will also take part in classroom activities exploring the life, values, and legacy of St John Vianney, helping students deepen their understanding of our school's patron saint and the importance of living with faith, kindness, and service to others.
2:45 – 3:15: Whole School Performance (Families are welcome to attend.)
We look forward to a wonderful day of celebration, learning, music, movement, and community as we honour St John Vianney together.
Supervision
A reminder that staff supervision begins at school at 8:30am. There is no supervision before this time. OHSC operates from 6:30am. Students are to gather on the Assembly area playground before school.
Staff supervise on the Assembly area and on the back / front gate gate until 8:45am.
CAR PARK PICK UPS / DROP OFFS !!
For the safety and wellbeing of all students, families are reminded that when collecting your child from the front gate area you must park in the front car park and exit your vehicle to collect your children. Please do not wait in your car or call students across the driveway.
Once you have collected your child, please leave the school grounds promptly to support a safe and orderly dismissal for everyone.
Late Arrival
Students are deemed late if they are not in their classroom at 8:45 when the attendance roll is taken. Late passes are issued at the front office. Please be punctual starting the day well is important!
Assembly Awards
Congratulations to Daniel who received an Empathy Award this week for being a considerate student who is empathetic towards others. Well done Daniel!
This week we also congratulate Malia who received an Empathy Award for always being kind to others and enthusiastic about her learning. Well done Malia!
Swimming Program
As our Years 3–6 Swimming Program begins on 10 August, we encourage families to support children who may feel anxious about swimming. Swimming is a compulsory part of our Health and Physical Education curriculum, helping students develop essential water safety skills and confidence. A change of policy has come into place today regarding School Swimming Programs spectators.
To ensure student safety, only school staff and official designated parent helpers are permitted on-site during School Swimming Programs. All official helpers must possess a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC). We thank you for your support in maintaining a secure environment.
2026 Census
Each year, the Australian Government collects information from all non government schools to help calculate school funding.
The 2026 Non Government Schools Census and Special Circumstance Applications Privacy Collection Notice is attached for your information. It explains what information is collected, why it is collected, and how it is used.
No action is required from parents or carers.
SJV Primary School Community Carnival Meeting
During Book Week, we invite families to donate good‑quality books for use at our School Carnival stall next year.
The Carnival will be held on -17th APRIL 2027. Next meeting on Tuesday 8th Septemeber@7pm
