Alumni Program

Week 9 we welcomed back alumni Rick Wilson (Class of 1996) and Jasmine Sandlant (Class of 2023) to speak with our Year 12 VM students.

Rick, now the owner of R&G Electrical, shared his journey from Ballarat High School to running his own business, reflecting on lifelong friendships, working overseas and career experiences across multiple industries before finding his path as an electrician. He gave valuable insights into what employers look for in apprentices, the realities of running a business and the importance of safety on the job.

Jasmine spoke about how the VM program set her up for success, particularly the impact of her Community Service VET studies. Now working full-time at Central Highlands Water, she shared what a typical day looks like and how much she enjoys the variety and opportunities her role provides.

Both Rick and Jasmine spoke with pride about their time at Ballarat High School, offering real and relatable advice to our students as they prepare for life beyond school.  We are extremely grateful and thank both Rick and Jasmine for giving up their time and their willingness to give back!
