Community Costume Crafting

On Sunday 22nd March the Art/Tech Building and Robinson Centre were both buzzing with activity in the development of our 2026 School Musical 'The Little Mermaid Jr'.  I was so thoroughly chuffed to have seen so many faces coming through the doors of the textiles room on a Sunday morning eager to roll their sleeves up and get crafting/sewing some of our costume items. We tackled our sailors uniforms and seagull's wings for this first session, with plenty of smiles and laughter shared.

Huge thanks to the following legends:

Parent/families crew:

Kasey Smith, Inbal Ross, Karina Briodin, Dennis Thoroughgood, Annika & Archie Dalgleish, Jacalyn Wenke, Julia West and Chloe Hopkins.

Staff crew:

Pooja Kaur, Emma Rhodes, Kylie Hargreaves, Louisa West and Tyler Smith.

And of course Fran Deutsher, how blessed we are to have you and your expertise Fran! Thanks for opening up your space on your weekend for this project.

Whilst we were all busy upstairs, I wandered through the bustling Robinson Centre for a sneak peak at the rehearsals going on. Firstly I passed  Zac Woods in the foyer running one dance group (thanks Zac!)  Then alumni Taylah Sims leading the charge with another group in the hallway (you might have seen her brilliant work onstage recently in '& Juliet'). Ash Kelman in the Theatre and Elley Jones in the band room all creating magic.

I just about skipped back to the car after all this productive work taking place. It really filled my cup to be reminded that we have a brilliant community here at Ballarat High.
