Year 3/4 News
Leannder, Dilan, and Olivia
This term, our Year 3/4 students have continued to engage enthusiastically in a range of rich learning experiences across Literacy and Mathematics. It has been wonderful to see their curiosity, perseverance and confidence grow as they develop new skills and deepen their understanding.
In Literacy, students are continuing to develop their reading comprehension, vocabulary and written communication skills. Through our text study of Wonder, students are exploring different characters and considering events from their individual perspectives. They are developing their ability to think deeply about characters’ feelings, motivations and experiences, while recognising the importance of empathy and understanding others. In spelling and grammar, students are investigating the suffixes -ing and -ed and working on extending their sentences to make their writing more detailed, engaging and precise.
In Mathematics, students are exploring the fascinating world of angles! They are learning to identify and name different types of angles, including acute, right, obtuse, straight and reflex angles. Students are comparing angles using a right angle as a benchmark and estimating angles in everyday objects and familiar surroundings. Through practical investigations and hands-on activities, they are discovering how angles can change as objects move, as well as exploring how angles combine to make 180° on a straight line and 360° around a point. Students are developing their mathematical reasoning by explaining how they classify angles and justifying their thinking.
Our Year 3/4 girls attended the Inspire STEM Gallery 2026, where they were invited to step into the amazing world of STEM and discover the stories of more than 90 inspiring women working across science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The excursion provided a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about different career pathways and imagine the possibilities for their own futures.
Some of our students shared the following reflections after the excursion:
“It was so interesting and it taught us that we can be whatever we want in the future.”
“We learnt about STEM careers and why it's important to study hard.”

A great big congratulations to Katerina on her outstanding achievements at Regional Athletics! Katerina demonstrates excellent effort in the classroom and tremendous determination as an athlete outside the classroom. Her hard work and commitment are something to be proud of, and 3/4B, along with the wider school community, is incredibly proud of her achievements. Well done, Katerina!

It has been wonderful to see our students continue to grow in confidence, curiosity and independence as we move further into the term. We are very proud of their ongoing effort, positive attitudes and enthusiasm for learning!
