Welcome back to Term 2!
Foundation

Inspiration students took from the text 'Lines That Wiggle'.
This term, our Foundation students are exploring the art elements of line and texture through a range of engaging and hands-on experiences. They have begun their learning by investigating different types of lines, taking inspiration from the text Lines That Wiggle (available on Vooks). Through this, students are discovering how lines can be straight, curved, zig-zagged, thick, thin, and expressive, and how artists use lines to communicate ideas and feelings.
As the term progresses, students will experiment with a variety of materials to create different kinds of marks and lines. They will also explore texture by taking rubbings from both natural and man-made surfaces around the school environment. These experiences will support students to observe closely, make connections to the world around them, and create their own unique artworks. This learning is aligned with the Victorian Curriculum, supporting students to develop their creativity, curiosity, and confidence as young artists.
Years 1 and 2

These students are using bucket drums to accompany In The Hall Of The Mountain King! Well done!
KABOOM PERCUSSION
We’re excited to welcome Kaboom Percussion to our school for a fun and engaging live performance on Thursday 4th June. In the lead-up, Karoo students have been building their rhythm and performance skills during Performing Arts lessons, using creative activities like body percussion and everyday objects to make music. This whole-school experience will see students actively engaged in an interactive concert, not just watching but joining in the music-making. It’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate creativity, teamwork, and the joy of performing together.
More information will come out shortly. Keep an eye on Compass for updates!
