Science Week Activities

Science Week was full of wonder!

Our clever Pre-Primary scientists explored density and buoyancy through their Dancing Sultanas experiment. They excitedly observed, predicted and investigated as the sultanas danced from the bottom to the top of their jars. What a great way to discover the magic of science!

Our Year 1 and 2 students as they investigated surface tension through the magical milk experiment! Watching colours swirl and dance across the milk sparked lots of excitement and plenty of scientific thinking as students explored how different substances interact. They also investigated the properties of solids using oobleck, exploring how this strange substance can behave like both a solid and a liquid.

Our Year 3 and 4 students. The Science Room was open at lunchtime for our scientists to learn all about chemistry by making popcorn dance!

Our Year 5 students made their own lava lamps! Through this colourful experiment, they explored the scientific principle of density, discovering why some substances float while others sink.

Our Year 6 students built and launched bottle rockets. The rockets were powered by vinegar and bicarbonate of soda, allowing the Year 6 students to investigate how chemical reactions can create enough force to send their creations flying through the air.

During Science Week we also held a colouring in competition. Congratulations to our winners.
