Illuminate Showcase
Last week, families, staff and students gathered for our annual Illuminate Showcase, a celebration of the outstanding learning, creativity and innovation taking place through Clayfield College's Illuminate Extension Programs.
Illuminate provides students with the opportunity to pursue their passions, investigate complex questions and engage in learning beyond the regular curriculum. The Showcase offered students the chance to share their projects, ideas and discoveries they have developed throughout the year with the Clayfield College community.
Our Junior Illuminate students in Year 5 and 6 explored themes such as Our Shared Planet, investigating issues including biodiversity loss, sustainability, homelessness and access to education. As one student explained, “We learned that knowledge is most powerful when it inspires action." Students shared not only what they had learned, but also how they hoped to make a positive difference in their communities.
Students in the Years 3 and 4 Junior Illuminate program deepened their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. Reflecting on their experience, one student noted that "making mistakes is an important part of learning and that there is often more than one way to solve a problem."
In the Senior School, students presented an impressive range of projects across STEM, English and Creative Arts. From scientific investigations and digital storytelling to music performance and production, students demonstrated creativity, critical thinking and perseverance. One STEM student reflected that the program allowed them to "experiment with new topics", while English students shared imaginative digital stories set in "Worlds Reimagined."
The quality of work on display was fantastic, and we were incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity and commitment shown by every student involved.
