Prep Learning Reflection

Term 2, Week 5 - 6
Our Prep learners have been very busy this term! In Mathematics, we have been exploring the number 10 using bundling sticks, helping us build strong number knowledge and understand that two-digit numbers are made with 1 ten and some more ones. You can support this learning at home by encouraging your child to make numbers such as 14 or 17 using 1 group of ten and extra ones!
During our Literacy sessions, students have been working hard on their reading fluency by practising with our unit fluency cards alongside a partner. It has been wonderful to see their confidence and expression continue to grow each week! We encourage families to continue practising reading at home each night to help further strengthen fluency, accuracy, and confidence.
We have also been encouraging our students to be brave writers. Our Preps are learning to listen carefully to the sounds they hear in words and record the letters that match those sounds, even when it feels tricky! We are so proud of the persistence and resilience they are showing as they develop their writing skills.
As our Prep learners become more independent, we kindly ask families to farewell students at the line-up area each morning. This helps support students in building confidence, independence, and smooth morning routines as they make their way into the classroom ready for a wonderful day of learning.
