QDU Debating Quarter Finals

After a successful season of debating, we were proud to watch three of our teams battle it out in the QDU Quarter Finals this week. These teams were in the top 8 of over 100 teams around the greater Brisbane area, an incredible achievement! Students debated about love languages, success and popularity, and the ethics behind charity advertising. Our Year 8 team were successful in their debate and will continue on to the Semi Finals next week.

Congratulations Claudia, Ava, Meredith, Maeve from 8.1

A win for Showcase at Redlands Eisteddfod

On Wednesday the 5th of August, Mount Alvernia and Padua College's combined choir Showcase were privileged to perform at the Redlands Eisteddfod at Ormiston College. This event is designed to celebrate the talent of musicians from Brisbane choirs. Out of 5 high schools, we received first place, with our performance of Beautiful Day/Best Day of My Life and Hamilton Highlights! This event was an amazing experience and allowed us to watch other likeminded, musically talented individuals. We had the best time! Thank you, Ms Marsh, and Mark for supporting us.

Year 9 Readers Cup

Earlier this term, our Year 9 Readers Cup team participated in the Brisbane North competition. While they did not place this year, the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience, working together to answer challenging questions based on the books they had been reading. Their enthusiasm, teamwork and love of literature were on full display, making the event a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all involved.
