VCE News

It's hard to believe we are already at the end of Term One!

The end of this term has seen Year 12 parents provided with the opportunity to meet their son or daughter's Subject Teachers at an afternoon of interviews on Monday 24th March. This was a great chance for parents to ask questions and hear about their progress of their children in their first term of Year 12.

In addition, Year 12 Students have been presented with the opportunity to join the Regional Pathway program delivered by La Trobe university for the remainder of the year. Steph and Mia from the Bendigo campus came to speak to the VCE Year 12 group on Wednesday afternoon (2/4) to introduce the program and help our students to join the program. They will be here working with the group during Common Study periods fortnightly on a Wednesday. Students will learn about university life, different opportunities at other universities and living away from home. They can also access tutoring in Literacy, along with support with Careers discussions and wellbeing. It will be a wonderful program for all Yr 12 VCE students to be connected to.

Also in the VCE area, this morning (Thursday 3/4) Year 11 students were all spoken to by Ms Julia Wood (Director of Learning and Teaching) and myself regarding their application to studies at the end of this week, in order to encourage them to reset over the holidays and return with a renewed energy towards their schoolwork.

We have noticed a lack of preparation for assessments from some students and an increase in some people's lateness to class and are hoping the Year 11's are better able to embrace all learning opportunities next term and moving forward, as they begin to realise the importance of hard work and stepping up their study habits as the year progresses.

On a final note, I would like to thank students for the way they have started the year. It is very exciting to think that our first Year 12 graduates are well on their way to finishing their secondary schooling and our Year 11's are capably coming along behind them!

Enjoy the holidays and stay safe!
