Junior Sports Report

Mr Kade Stevens - Junior School Sports Coordinator

Mortimer Legend Day and Trent Barrett Shield

Last Tuesday, 60 students from Years 3/4 and 5/6 represented our school at the Combined Mortimer Legends and Trent Barrett Shield Rugby Gala Days held at Jelbart Park.

We entered six teams across the two competitions, and all students should be extremely proud of their efforts. Throughout the day, our players displayed excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, determination, and resilience, representing our school with pride both on and off the field.

It was fantastic to see all teams give their best in every match, supporting one another and embracing the spirit of the game. The day provided a wonderful opportunity for students to try a new sport, develop their rugby skills, build confidence, and enjoy competing against other schools in a fun and positive environment.

Congratulations to all students involved on their outstanding efforts and the way they represented our school. We would also like to thank the staff who made this day such a success!

Student reflection:

On the 15th of September we were on the bus to Jelbart Park for a Mortimer Shield and Trend Barrett Cup Gala Day. The sun was shinning and we had set up our tent for shade.

We had six teams entered for the day.

  • Year 3 boys- tackle team.
  • Year 5 and 6 girls-two league tag teams.
  • Year 5 and 6 boys- three tackle teams teams.

Every team played at least 3 games. There were some crushing tackles and some awesome tries. It was good seeing friends from different school and talking with them. At the end of the day, each team was gifted a water bottle for one player who showed sportsmanship and skills on the day. It was a wonderful day and everyone had great fun.

Thanks, Mr Stevens and Mr Celi for organising the day.

School Holidays

As we head into the school holidays, I encourage all students to find ways to stay active and keep moving each day. Whether it's riding a bike, kicking a ball with friends, going for a walk with family, swimming, or simply playing outside, being active is a great way to have fun, stay healthy, and maintain good habits.

Enjoy the break, make the most of the beautiful spring weather, and return to school refreshed, energised, and ready for another exciting term of sport and physical activity.
