Junior School

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, I would like to thank our students, staff and families for their ongoing partnership and support throughout Term 3.

This term has been filled with rich learning opportunities and memorable experiences. One of the highlights has been the strong connection between home and school through our Student Progress Meetings. These conversations are invaluable in supporting each child’s growth and ensuring we continue to work together in the best interests of every student.

Our Junior School students also shone brightly on stage in Dare to Dream. The production showcased not only their talents, confidence and creativity, but also the courage to step outside their comfort zones and work together towards a common goal. We are incredibly proud of every student who participated.

Our Year 3 and Year 4 students enjoyed wonderful experiences at Borambola, where they developed resilience, independence and friendships while embracing new challenges. Our Kindergarten students also made significant progress through their Learn to Swim program, building confidence and important lifelong water safety skills.

As we look ahead to Term 4, there is a real sense of excitement and anticipation. The final term provides an opportunity to finish the year strongly, celebrate growth and achievement, and continue building positive momentum across the Junior School.

At the same time, we will begin preparing for the journey ahead in 2027. Step Up Day will provide students with an opportunity to start looking towards the next stage of their learning, while our new Kindergarten Orientation Program will warmly welcome the newest members of our Trinity community and support their transition into school life.

Thank you for your ongoing support throughout what has been a fantastic term. I wish all our students and families a safe, restful and well-deserved holiday break, and I look forward to another positive and successful term together as we conclude the 2026 school year.

Oliver and Pop take on the Lunchbox Rally

We’re excited to share that one of our wonderful Year 2 students, Oliver Russell, is taking part in the 2026 Lunchbox Rally alongside his Pop!

The Lunchbox Rally is a five-day adventure that sees teams travel through regional Australia in old cars, all while raising money for the Cancer Council to support cancer research. Every team commits to fundraising before taking part, helping to make a difference for people affected by cancer.

Oliver, his Pop and their trusty car, ‘Merv the Mazda’, called into the College yesterday before setting off on their epic adventure!

Oliver and his Pop are currently on track to become the highest fundraising team in the 2026 rally, which is an incredible achievement.

To help them reach their fundraising goal, we held our Crazy Coloured Socks Day today, and raised over $1173!

We can’t wait to see Oliver, Pop and Merv the Mazda before they hit the road - and we’ll be cheering them on all the way!

Year 3 Warraminna Excursion

On Thursday 17 September, Year 3 participated in an excursion to the Wirraminna Environmental Education Centre at Burrumbuttock as part of their Blended Learning Unit, ‘Environments of Living Things’. Year 3 learned about the Corroboree Frog and some were lucky enough to see some living at the Centre in captivity as part of a conservation program. Students also participated in a range of exciting outdoor activities that encouraged exploration, teamwork and a connection with the natural environment.

A highlight for many students was the orienteering activity, where they worked in groups to navigate the bushland, locate letters and unscramble them to solve a puzzle. Students also enjoyed the 'Ghost Hunt', searching the grounds for 20 different metal cut-outs representing animals that once lived in the area. The 'Bush Treasure' activity encouraged students to carefully explore their surroundings as they searched for a variety of natural treasures, such as gumnuts, within the environment.

It was a fantastic day, with students particularly enjoying the sense of freedom that came with exploring the natural environment. The orienteering and Ghost Hunt were especially popular, allowing students to work collaboratively while experiencing a sense of adventure, independence and discovery.

Year 1 - Immersion Day – Living Things

Wednesday 16 September

Year 1 students had a wonderful time exploring the theme “Living Things” during our Immersion Day on Wednesday 16 September. With the support of their classroom teachers, Mr Thurling and Mrs Jones, students rotated through four hands-on activities across the day, giving them opportunities to investigate, discover, observe and create.

Students got their hands dirty exploring the pond and discovering a range of living creatures. They were very excited to find small freshwater yabbies, a leech and tiny fingerlings. While exploring under the trees, they also discovered slaters, worms and ants.

Frog Facts with Dr Dave

Dr Dave shared lots of interesting frog facts and information with the students. His engaging presentation encouraged the children to think deeply about frogs, their habitats and the important role they play in our environment. There were plenty of curious questions and fascinating discoveries!

Microscopes and Water Bugs

In 1SMC and on the verandah, students used microscopes to get a closer look at a collection of plants and animals. They searched the pond water for tiny creatures and used bug identification sheets to help identify what they found, including mosquito larvae, water spiders, tadpoles and water beetles. It was exciting to see just how much life can be found in a small sample of pond water!

Lady Beetle facts and Drawing 

Students also enjoyed learning about lady beetles and discovering some interesting facts about these tiny creatures. With their classroom teachers, they followed a drawing tutorial and created their own lady beetle artworks. The students had lots of fun being creative while learning about another fascinating living thing.

It was a fantastic day of hands-on learning, exploration and discovery, with Year 1 students developing their curiosity and understanding of the living world around them.

Creative Pursuits

Strings Club

This term Strings Club had a wonderful time developing their musical skills. Students were able to choose between playing the Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass!

Over the four sessions, we learnt a variety of rhythms and bow strokes, listened to different genres of music that incorporate strings and learned musical games.

We also learnt to play many songs as a String Orchestra including Jig, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, St Anthony’s Chorale and Jingle Bells. We worked hard, made a wonderful sound and had the best time doing it too.

Wool Crafting

Students have been developing their wool-working skills, creating their own keyrings from scratch. They worked through each stage of the process, from carding and dyeing the wool to felting and threading it onto a string to attach to their keyrings.

They also had the opportunity to try their hand at felting a drink coaster to take home. It has been wonderful to see such positive attitudes, creativity and new skills developing along the way!

Everyday English at Trinity

We are delighted to be partnering with Boas Language Academy to offer free after-school English classes for students, parents and carers.
