Diocese Swimming

On Friday March 1, 21 students attended the Armidale Diocese Swimming trials at Gunnedah pools. There were some outstanding performances on the day and a number of our students were age champions and qualified for NSW Swimming CCC trials on 4 April in Sydney. 

Our Armidale Diocese Swimming Champions included

Girls 

17 years Abbey Trewern

16 year Tilani Smith

12 girls Amity Wall

Boys 

16 years Lachlan Davey

13 years- Edward McCann

Congratulations to the 6 x 50 m relay team who won the schools shield for the first time the schools shield. Swimmers included; Colby Butler, Lily Stewart, Tilani Smith, Lachlan Davey, Abbey Trewern and Chloe Mulligan.

In addition to the above mentioned names Mason Hill also qualified for the NSW CCC Swimming Championships

Diocese Under 15 Netball trials

On Wednesday 6 March 4 girls teams who participated in the Under 15 Diocese netball trials in Armidale.. The girls did really well and played some great games. Congratulations to Maddison Marshall, Millie Macey and Anna Barwick for making the possibles v Probables selection.

A big thank you to Mr Nicole Anderson, Mrs Jane Burt and Miss Tahlia Urquart for their coaching on the day and all the students who umpired. 

Armidale/Lismore Diocese Rugby League trials 

On Tuesday 5 March the combined Armidale/Lismore Girls and Boys Rugby League trials were held in Lismore for the under 15 and Under 18 age groups. 

Congratulations to Tarnee Ingram, Lauren Daye and Emily Dietrich who made the combined Lismore/Armidale Open Girls Rugby League team. Well done also to Thomas Mallon and Sullivan Butler who were selected in the under 15 Lismore/Armidale Diocese team. These students will participate in the Northern Country trials at the end of the term in South West rocks. 

Diocese Primary Schools Sports trials

On Friday 7 March the Armidale Primary Diocesan winter sports trials were held in Tamworth. Twenty McCarthy Catholic College students helped out across the 3 venues, Rugby League, Soccer and netball. Our students helped set and pack up the grounds, running the canteen and umpiring/refereeing the matches. Our students did a great job and ensured the efficient running of the carnival.
