New England University Showcase 21st Feb

 

Recently approximately 70 senior students attended the 2024 Universities Showcase. A presentation by the University of Newcastle, University of New England, Southern Cross University and Charles Sturt University was given, on applying to university, early entry schemes, aspects of university life and study. This was followed by the opportunity to collect information and ask questions.

 

 

Weekly Careers Newsletters for Parents/Carers of Year 11 and 12 Students

 

Following a Compass message with a sample email, there are now over 50 parents and carers now receiving a 15 page newsletter at the end of each week full of information on courses, careers, webinars and opportunities from universities, TAFE, colleges and other organisations.

Girls Can Trade Too Program

 

Erin Tickle year 10, and Lilly Dow year 11 are participating in a Girls can to program run through Tamworth Tafe. They experience different trades over the next few weeks including plumbing, carpentry and metal work. The students experienced welding the first week. 

 

 

Work Experience

 

Many students are investigating work experience in a variety of employment areas including electrical, welding, fabrication and carpentry. Please remember to see Mrs Samantha Cox to discuss work experience and collect a work experience pack.  

 

A Reminder for Students to Check their School Emails

 

Students are reminded to check their emails daily. The transition team will submit numerous Expression of Interests (EOI) for training, professional learning and/or fantastic events. Recently a student survey was sent asking students in Years 10 - 12 to submit an (EOI) regarding white card training for mid to late November. If you haven’t done so already, please complete the survey.
