On Saturday 28 October the Chin Hakha community celebrated their annual Harvest Festival called ‘Tho’. This event is a time of celebration and thanksgiving for the harvesting and abundance of crops in Chin State. It also signifies the Chin New Year. The Chin Community gathered at Mooroolbark Public Space and enjoyed a day of cultural performances, food stalls and games to mark the occasion. Many of our MECS Chin families attended and some of our students performed traditional dances or wore traditional dress. The day was attended by Aaron Violi, Federal Member for Casey and Michael Sukkar, Federal Member for Deakin. A great afternoon was had by all!
