School Camps

Next week our Junior Secondary students and staff will be off on their final camping experiences for the year. The Year 9s are exploring the nation’s capital on their trip to Canberra, the Year 8s are at Wilson’s Prom and Year 7s at Phillip Island. Thanks to all the staff who are assisting with the hiking and cooking on these camps – we really appreciate your assistance and could not run our program without the support of our non-teaching staff. We pray these experiences will be a great way to finish off the students’ curriculum programs as they see and experience the things they have been learning about in their classes this year. We pray for safety for all those involved.

As you will see elsewhere in this newsletter, our Middle Primary students were on their camp last week. Fabulous activities and a great cohort of students, made this a special time for our students, staff and parent volunteers.

Year 12 Graduation

Next week also culminates with the Year 12 Graduation on the Saturday night at the Karralyka Centre in Ringwood East. This will be a great opportunity to celebrate with our Year 12s and their families the completion of their schooling here at MECS. Please continue to pray for our Year 12s as they finish their exams and then head off on various service trips and fun activities over the coming weeks, that they will be kept safe and enjoy the opportunities that are shortly before them.

Instrumental tuition in 2024

It’s that time of year when you might want to consider whether your child wants to take up instrumental lessons next year. We have a wide range of instrumental offerings including keyboard, guitar, drums, trumpet and vocal. Professional music tutors conduct all lessons. If you would like more information about this program, please email Tristan Forrest, our Instrumental Coordinator, tforrest@mecs.vic.edu.au or our main office. Thinking about this now, and registering your interest, will mean that we can get the right tutors in place for next year.

Grandparents Day and other Special Excursions

It was so exciting to see our grandparents back on-site today! It’s been a few years since we were able to host this event, so it was a joy to see our Primary students showing off their learning and classrooms to their grandparents or other special visitors. Likewise, it is great to see the pride in our visitors as they encourage the special young people in their lives. Stay tuned for some special photos in our next newsletter!

On another fun note, I am off with the Junior Primary students this week on their Puffing Billy excursion. So many great experiences for our students to be involved in each and every week!
