Ceremonial Parade
Our 63rd annual Cadet Ceremonial Parade was a resounding success, showcasing the professionalism and dedication that defines our cadet unit. Our cadet leaders excelled throughout the ceremony, demonstrating exceptional dress and bearing while commanding their platoons with confidence and precision. Their professionalism and attention to detail set an outstanding example for all cadets on parade.

A particular highlight was our cadet band, who did an exceptional job delivering an amazing performance that elevated the entire occasion. Their musical excellence provided the perfect ceremonial atmosphere and demonstrated the diverse talents within our unit.

We were honoured to have Mr Ritchie Knape, Class of 1991 and grandson of the legendary Ted Kenna VC, serve as our reviewing officer. Mr Knape's distinguished 12 year career in Defence and his family's remarkable military heritage added special significance to the ceremony, providing our cadets with an inspiring connection to Hamilton and Australia's proud military traditions.

While our Year 8 cadets showed some inconsistency during practice sessions leading up to the parade, it was heartening to see the vast majority step up on the day itself. This resilience and ability to rise to the occasion speaks volumes about their character and potential as future leaders.

Congratulations to all award winners recognised during the ceremony. Your dedication and outstanding achievements throughout the year have earned you this well-deserved recognition.

I am delighted to welcome our 2026 leadership team who will guide our unit forward: ADJT CUO Ciaran Behrendt, RSM WO1 Seamus Byron, and SNR CUO Geneva Kamp. These exceptional individuals have demonstrated the qualities necessary to lead with distinction, and I have every confidence in their ability to build upon our unit's proud traditions.

Finally, heartfelt thanks must go to outgoing ADJT CUO Liam Keable, who has excelled throughout his tenure as head cadet. His exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment, and positive influence have set an outstanding standard for future leaders to aspire to.
Parade dinner
Following our ceremonial parade, Senior cadets and platoon commanders gathered for a formal dining-in night, providing an excellent opportunity to celebrate achievements and farewell departing members in the tradition of military mess dinners.
The evening held special significance as we said goodbye to Year 12 cadet SGT Teyah Evans and Year 11 CUO Liam Keable. Their contributions to our unit have been invaluable, and they leave behind a strong legacy of leadership and service.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of Australian Army Cadets Bronze Commendations to CUO Liam Keable and WO1 Seamus Byron. This remarkable achievement recognises their outstanding hard work and dedication to cadets at both unit and battalion level. As one of the highest awards cadets can receive, the Bronze Commendation reflects exceptional service and commitment that extends well beyond normal expectations.
The formal atmosphere of the dining-in night provided the perfect setting to honour these achievements and reflect on another successful year of cadet activities. Congratulations to all award recipients and best wishes to our departing cadets.
