Principal's Report
Jonathan Rowe
Dear Parents and carers,
I often say there are two events at the school that stand out for me and instill an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. The first is at the beginning of the year when, as an MSC community, we formally welcome our new and very nervous Year 7 cohort at our first assembly. The second is our Year 12 Celebration Day and Final Assembly. Every year a little part of us walks out the College gates with the departing class because in amongst the hard work, the frustration and the stress they caused, there are always many more moments of joy, or enlightenment, satisfaction or feelings of success and pride. They have impacted on us in ways they may never truly understand, the warmth of a simple smile or greeting, an act of kindness or a gesture of appreciation remains with us. Their willingness to support each other, to accept and respect each other’s differences, working together to make this community stronger.
In turn, we hope that a small part of this community will remain with them no matter what. In hard times I hope lessons learnt can be their solid ground, their north star, a source of inspiration, a clear small voice in their hearts that will be with them always, comforting, directing and reassuring them.
We stand, as teachers, with pride having watched them grow over the past six years, we share their joy of completing their secondary studies, and we share their sense of triumph, their feeling of accomplishment for getting them through. Some of us may even shed a tear as we bid farewell for, we have done what Jules Chevalier asks of us, we have loved them and made sure they knew it.
Our 2026 student leaders were also inducted on this day, another moment of joy for me, and the cycle of renewal begins all over again. I am confident they will lead our college brilliantly building on those that have come before them.
For our senior students, the campus has been a hive of purposeful activity as they have undertaken revision in preparation for their final VCE examinations, which commenced this week. Their commitment and focus reflect the growth, maturity and determination we strive to nurture in every Monivae learner.
As our VCE Unit 4 students continue through exams, we hold them in our thoughts and prayers. May they feel the support of their teachers, peers and families, and trust in the preparation that has brought them to this point.
Congratulations to the many sporting teams who have represented Monivae this term. We have so many talented athletes, many who are moving to the next level of competition.
It is a privilege to serve as Principal of such a vibrant and compassionate College.
Kind regards
Mr Jonathan Rowe
