Celebrating Chinese New Year is a special occasion at the Boarding House and this week we officially welcomed the Year of the Horse.
The Year of the Horse represents optimism, perseverance, energy and independence amongst others. Celebrating Chinese New Year provides an opportunity for many of our international students who are away from family, to come together with friends and staff, share traditions, and feel a strong sense of belonging. It is also valuable for others to learn more about the cultural significance of Chinese New Year and why events like this are so important.
We were delighted to have 30 students attend a wonderful Chinese dinner, filled with conversation and connection. A very grateful thank you to Lise Lowe for the homemade horse biscuits, and to Ms Tiantian Li for organising the red envelopes, which added a special and authentic touch to the celebration.

The annual Boarding House Netball Competition was once again a highlight on the boarding calendar - bringing energy, laughter, and a healthy dose of competitive spirit to the courts.
Speirs House claimed victory over Macdonald House, with the boys taking out the title for the second year in a row. While the result was exciting, the scoreboard was not the most important outcome. The true success of the competition was the way it brought both Houses together. All boarders played side by side, supported one another, and shared in the enjoyment of the afternoon. Events like this strengthen House pride, reinforce friendships, and continue to build the close bonds that define our boarding community.
