It is important that once in a while we stop, take a breath, and reflect on all the good things happening around us. So much has taken place at this school in such a short period of time, and I want to make sure we take a moment to recognise it.
So, what positive impact have you already made on our school?
New students have been welcomed and made to feel genuinely included. Many of you stepped well outside your comfort zone and jumped in the pool to support your House at the swimming sports. The Boarding House has been buzzing with fun — from surfing trips to... a wedding!
Our GD swimming team cleaned up last week, winning the girls' aggregate, the boys' aggregate, and the grand aggregate. A huge thank you to the brilliant student helpers who worked alongside Mrs Joyce to make the GD carnival run smoothly.

We have already seen success on the cricket pitch, the netball and basketball courts, and out on the Barwon River and Lake Wendouree.
We've seen students stepping up in the Tuck Shop without being asked, and students walking past and picking up rubbish that someone else thought was fine to leave on the ground. Those small moments matter more than you know.

Students were recognised for their academic achievement at our recent Scholars' Assembly. Our Year 7s have enjoyed a day at the high ropes, Year 8s have been out surfing, and our Year 9s are currently at the Wannon, beginning their Year 9 Experience. Students have put their hands up to represent you as members of the SRC, and others have volunteered to wait at parent functions and the Dinner Dance.

We have celebrated Chinese New Year and acknowledged the many different cultures and beliefs that make our College community so rich. Students have put their hands up to audition for Chicago. And what a night Saturday was — an incredible group of students, staff, and parent organisers came together to ensure the Dinner Dance was a wonderful success. To all of our Year 10s, 11s, and 12s — the way you conducted yourselves on the night was a credit to you and to this school.
Our Year 11s have been out selling raffle tickets to support mental health awareness. And we have been so incredibly proud of the way our students — especially our Year 12s — have supported one another through what has been one of the toughest periods we have experienced in a long time.
And finally, a massive shout-out and heartfelt thank you to our incredible teachers, who have gone above and beyond over these past few weeks — covering so much, and supporting both students and each other without hesitation.
What a huge four weeks! Students - be proud of yourselves. Every single one of you has played a part in making this school the connected place it is.
