Last Saturday night’s Dinner Dance was, as always, a significant event on our Year 10, 11 and 12 students' social calendar. Our young people presented themselves with confidence and polish, arriving at the Tower in everything from a Mustang to a mighty semi. After a very difficult three weeks for many of these same students, the Dinner Dance provided a night of fun and positivity, with just the right amount of reflective acknowledgement of the loss of the preceding weeks. Well done to all involved in putting the night on, with special mentions to Helen Reiher for her overall coordination, the parent decoration helpers, and Anna and Duncan Giles, Charlie, and Síle Legoe for organising the enjoyable parent function.
The opportunity to be on the stage in a serious live production is one of the distinct opportunities that College students enjoy. Students have received information about the audition timelines and processes for Disney’s Dare to Dream and Chicago – Teen Edition, for Junior School and Senior School, respectively, which are scheduled for the next couple of weeks. The auditions can be a nervous time with students needing to prepare vocal pieces, monologues, and a dance (any one of the three would make me nervous), and with there always being more students auditioning than roles to fill. My best wishes to all who will audition and who do so despite the fear that they might drop a line or miss a note; it’s exciting to be thinking ahead in anticipation of these wonderful productions later in the year.
Thank you again for your patience as we have worked through the technical issues with Paperly, our new excursions permissions platform. It appears that the issues are related to a lack of email server capacity on their end, as they expanded quickly to fill the void left by Operoo. We’re assured the logjam is resolved now, and that you should be able to access excursions for approval without issue.
