Rowing

Our trip to the BAS Head of the Lake in Ballarat was a fantastic success, with strong performances across the board and great team spirit throughout the day. A special shout-out to Leila, who wasn’t rowing on the day but was still down at Lake Wendouree supporting and cheering on the rowers to the finish.

All of our Quad crews achieved great results:

  • Female Year 9 Division 5 Quad (Year 8s) come in second with an amazing time of 4.14;

  • Female Year 9 Division 4 quad also finished second after an amazing row;

  • Male Year 9 Division 4-6 quad (Year 8s) finished second with a phenomenal time of 3.55 merely two seconds behind first place;

  • The female Year 9 Division 1 quad also finished third with just two seconds off first place.

Archie Young delivered an outstanding individual performance to win his single (skull), and Rupert Merrin and Finlay Hunt capped off the regatta with a brilliant first-place finish in the double. It was a memorable day of racing, showcasing determination, teamwork, and impressive results for BAS. We are all very proud of how hard these rowers have worked this season and how far they’ve come.

Netball

Students bought enthusiasm and energy to the netball courts on Saturday morning.

The junior College Rubies went up against Dunkeld with an outstanding win in a low scoring game, 6 to 4. Players who stood out for their coaches, Pepper and Lily, were Jack, for all the intercepts down the court, Chelsea for her outstanding moving and shooting within the ring and new addition, Edie, who played her first game ever. The team worked well together and were all excited with the win.

The junior College Sapphires went up against a very strong and well drilled Gray Street White, with an unfortunate loss of 18 to 2. The score doesn’t reflect how well each team member played, and we saw great ball movement down the court.

The Year 7/8 College Firebirds, coached by Belle and Izzy, put up a strong fight against the Monivae Sky Blue team, ending with a 24 all draw. The standouts of the day were Patty, getting may tips and intercepts within the defensive area. Charlotte, a new player to our ranks, showed determination down the court and Grace's constant running through the mid-court was always a great option to help her team out. Each and every player put in so much hard work and rewarded each turnover in a careful manner.

The Year 7/8 College Mavericks played Baimbridge and it concluded with another draw for College, 23 all. Players of the day were Poppy and Olivia, with their shooting in the ring and their movement. There were some great defensive efforts as well, and the willingness to share the ball helped the team enormously.

The Year 9-12 College Diamonds went head-to-head with the College Mavericks at school on Tuesday lunch time. The Diamonds worked well together and took the lead early, finishing with a score of 30 to 8. Standouts on the Diamonds side were Ruby and Sas, for their movement within the ring and their incredible passes to one another. The Mavericks had a tough game with shots that wouldn't drop but the team played well together. Congratulations to Felicity who made some great intercepts in the defensive area.

Thank you to everyone who shows up every week, for Mrs Ogle for finding the time to organise the College teams and making it all go ahead. Thank you to all our umpires each week, allowing the games to be played. Also, thanking all the parents and coaches who give their time and effort in taking their kids each Saturday to Pedrina Park for early morning netball, to those who volunteer in a role. The HNA program wouldn’t go ahead if they weren’t getting help from others and all the behind-the-scenes work doesn’t go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated.
