Spotlight on Learning
Year FOUR - Jericho Community
Dear Families,
This week, we celebrated Pentecost and Multicultural Day, recognising and appreciating the rich cultural diversity within our school community. As we reflected on the coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:1–4, students explored how people from many nations came together in understanding, unity and peace. We also acknowledged National Sorry Day and the beginning of National Reconciliation Week. This year’s theme, “All In,” encourages all Australians to work together towards reconciliation and stronger relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
We look forward to celebrating Mass next week, led by the Bethany community, and warmly welcome all families who are able to attend.

Religious Education:
In Religious Education, students will reflect on the Catholic Story of Creation and explore its deeper meaning. They will discuss how the story of creation connects to their understanding of God, the world and their own lives.
English:
In English, students will consolidate their understanding of factual and historical recounts. They will create an introduction that explains the who, what, when, where and why of an event, describe a sequence of events and write a conclusion. Students will focus on planning and writing clear introductions for their recounts.
Mathematics:
In Maths, students will learn to rename hundredths as tenths in decimal format. They will use a decimat to help them model and explain how hundredths can be regrouped into tenths.
Integrated Curriculum:
In Integrated Studies next week, students will continue their Geography unit by creating a comparison poster about Australian and global vegetation environments. Students will explore different environments, including the plants and animals that live there, environmental challenges affecting these places, and how people can help protect them. They will also learn about how Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have traditionally used vegetation and cared for Country.
