Spotlight on Learning
Year ONE - Jerusalem Community
Dear Families,
Welcome to Week 6! This week we celebrated our wonderful school community during our Pentecost Multicultural Day. Students proudly wore traditional cultural clothing or the colours of their country’s flag to celebrate the many cultures and backgrounds that make our school special. The children enjoyed taking part in a colourful parade around the basketball court while families and parents watched and cheered them on. It was a joyful celebration of diversity and community bringing people together.
The year 1 team.

• Listen to your child read regularly and encourage them to use their decoding strategies when they come to an unfamiliar word.
• After reading, ask your child to retell what happened, share their favourite part, or explain how a character was feeling.
• Re-reading familiar texts is a great way to build confidence, fluency and expression.
• Notice numbers in everyday places and ask questions like, “How many altogether?” or “How do you know?”
• A curious question to ask this week could be: What is something you learned that made you laugh?

Please ensure that you are labelling your child's belongings.
Can we please ask for a pair of socks and underwear to be placed in the front zip pocket of your child's school bag in case of a toileting accident.
Enjoy your weekend,
