Grade 5-6 Media Arts

This term in Media Arts, students have been exploring how websites communicate ideas, values, and messages to different audiences. Students analysed a range of real-world websites, including charities, science organisations, and commercial brands, to investigate how images, colours, words, layout, and design choices influence how people think and feel. Below are some examples of the features we have been noticing.

Through class discussions and comparison activities, students identified how different organisations promote different values such as health, community, creativity, beauty, learning, and social responsibility. Students also explored how websites are carefully designed for specific audiences and purposes.

As part of their major project, students are planning and creating their own mock company websites using Google Sites and Canva. They are developing a food or drink brand with an identified target audience. They are selecting values they want to communicate through their website design. Students are creating logos, banners, webpages, and written content that reflects their company message and visual style.
