Empowered by the Spirit: Confirmation Reflection

On Thursday the 20th August, our Year 6 Confirmation candidates gathered for an inspiring two-hour workshop as they enter the final stages of preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Throughout the session, students explored how the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit act as a spiritual compass for their daily lives - guiding their choices in the classroom, on the sporting field, and online. Working through real-world dilemma scenarios, candidates reflected on how applying gifts like Counsel and Fortitude produces lasting fruits such as Peace, Patience, and Kindness.

A central highlight of the workshop was connecting their personal journey to family and community.  Students spent time in quiet prayer reading heartfelt letters of encouragement written by their parents, reflecting on their chosen Confirmation Saints, a making their own pledge.

The workshop concluded with a reverent prayer service, where candidates composed personal prayers of thanksgiving for their families. Finally students joined together to reflect upon and pray the beautiful prayer of St Francis. Through this prayer, students committed to putting the Gifts of the Holy Spirit into action by choosing love, pardon and peace in their daily choices.
