Century Cricket T20 State of Origin Competition

During the July school holiday Ian de Lange represented the NSW under-15 cricket team in the Century Cricket T20 State of Origin Competition on the Sunshine Coast. The competition included two teams from Victoria, one from Queensland and an Allies Team. Due to the weather, Ian’s team only managed to play three games with the last day being a washout.

Ian’s individual performance, attitude and good behaviour were praised by coaches and players alike. He scored 84 runs in 2 innings which included 51(46) and 33(30). Bowling in 3 innings, Ian took 3 wickets with an economy rate of 6.19

He was also selected in an Australian XI Team that was made up of the best 11 players in the tournament. Although this team will not play together, it was still a huge honour being selected.

In September, Ian will play for the Moreton Magic Franchise in the Century Cricket T20 Competition QLD.

U14s Boys QLD Basketball State Championships

During the school holidays, Kye Eagle competed in the U14 Boys Queensland State Basketball Championships, representing the Cairns Stingers. The tournament in Cairns featured over 70 teams from across the state competing in six divisions. The Cairns Stingers made their city proud by finishing third out of 12 teams in their division (Division 3), earning bronze medals. They were the only non-metro team (Southern QLD Brisbane/Gold Coast) across all divisions to win a medal.

Kye stood out as a strong point scorer and defender, and the entire team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, teamwork, skill and determination. Their impressive performance is a testament to several months of dedicated training.
