Music block room names

In the new music block at Saints, we have three practice rooms and a studio recording control room. These have not been numbered in the new build, so we felt each room should be given a name. Students nominated a name and then voted. The names had to be unusual musical instruments.

The music staff named the studio control room – “Ground Control” with a salute to David Bowie. Years 11and 12 chose “Hurdy Gurdy” for the recording studio, Years 9 and 10 chose “Ocarina” and Years 7 and 8 chose “Balalaika”. The signs are being printed and will be installed once they arrive.

Upcoming events

We have a huge term coming up with a wide variety of events such as workshops with Melbourne Ska Orchestra, the Bishop's Ordination, Catholic Education Week – Sacred Song, excursions and other incursions.  Please keep on top of the parent slips and information provided.

Spirit of Arts Awards

This award has been developed to recognise the work our arts students put into the College and wider community.  It also serves as an encouragement for those students to take it a step further by mentoring younger students or organising an event themselves.  The application is available now on the student portal or a hard copy can be obtained from the Arts/Music Department staffroom.  If your son has exhibited artwork, entered work in a film festival, participated in the musical, sits external exams, performs at eisteddfod etc. he is eligible to apply.
