🏆 Victorian School Music Festival (VSMF)
Congratulations to our VCE Chamber Choir, who - accompanied by a group of talented Year 8 string players - recently competed in the Choral section of the Victorian School Music Festival, receiving a Gold Award for their outstanding performance. A highlight of the event is the on-stage workshop with an adjudicator, which both reinforces the conductor’s work in rehearsals and introduces fresh ways to achieve unity and musical expression. We also wish our upcoming VSMF entrants, including the Concert Bands, String ensembles and Symphony Orchestra, every success in their divisions.
🎭 Freaky Friday – Pit Orchestra & Vocalists
We are very proud that the pit orchestra for our upcoming musical production of Freaky Friday includes 26 student musicians and reinforced by only 3 staff members. Drawn from our Concert Band and Orchestras, many of these students are seasoned performers from past musicals and have volunteered enthusiastically for this opportunity.
Matthew L is doing a wonderful job in his appointed role of Assistant Musical Director, which includes conducting one of the songs in the show. Playing a professional-level score which is often in lesser-played key signatures, requires immense concentration, endurance and dedication to contributing to the magic of theatre. The pit musicians are an integral part of the show’s magic, working hand-in-hand with the singers and cast to bring the production to life.
Our on-stage cast members and pit singers also have a significant symbiotic relationship with our vibrant choir program. Come and support our student musicians in action on Friday 22 August and Saturday 23 August. It promises to be an unforgettable experience!
🎹 Congratulations to Nathan M – LMusA Piano Diploma
A huge round of applause for Nathan M (Year 11) who has recently achieved his Licentiate Diploma in Music (LMusA) on piano. This prestigious award from the AMEB recognises advanced technical skill, musical maturity and artistic interpretation. Nathan’s achievement is a testament to years of focused practice and a deep love for music. Well done, Nathan!
