Unit of Study: Shark Tank Macleod

 

Brief Description: Shark Tank Macleod will investigate how enterprising behaviours can develop business ideas into business success. Students will design a marketing strategy for a new product or service, and use research and contemporary case studies to demonstrate the effectiveness of their campaign.

At the conclusion of this unit of study students will have: 

 

An understanding of key knowledge

  • the strategies and tactics used by businesses to create and maintain a competitive advantage, including entrepreneurship, marketing and public relations (E10K05)

  • the different purposes and goals of businesses, different categories of business organisation according to ownership structure, types of products, target market, and how businesses can identify and take advantage of market opportunity (E8K03)

  • entrepreneurship and the link to business success, (E8K04)

  • locate, select, organise and analyse relevant information and data from a range of sources (E10S02)

  • draw logical conclusions based on data and information from verified sources (E10S04)

  • explain and present arguments about economics and business concepts and issues using subject-specific terminology, with reference to sources (E10S07)

Assessment Tasks

Students will be required to complete one of the following assessment tasks:

  • Fashion marketing report
  • Shark Tank Macleod product pitch
