Unit of Study: Money & Me

 

Brief Description: Money & Me focuses on the everyday financial decisions that have an effect on long term wealth and financial literacy. Students learn how to budget on various incomes. They also look at the pros and cons of credit, including how to use credit responsibly.

 

Scaffolding Learning

At the conclusion of this unit of study students will have: 

 

An understanding of key knowledge

  • managing consumer and financial risks and rewards, including financial scams, smart investment strategies and insurance, considering both legal and ethical implications (E10K08)

  • superannuation, what it is, who contributes, its importance and the potential benefits of superannuation to both individual and Australian living standards (E10K09)

Attained these key skills 

  • locate, select, organise and analyse relevant information and data from a range of sources (E10S02)
  • draw logical conclusions based on data and information from verified sources (E10S04)
  • evaluate sources of data and information to determine authenticity and validity (E10S06)

Demonstrated the Victorian curriculum standards and capabilities

  • Critical and Creative Thinking

  • Family budget
  • Case study analysis
