Unit of Study: Icons & Influence
Brief Description: Icons & Influence investigates the impact of pop culture on modern Australia. From rock 'n' roll hitting our televisions in the 1950s through to the Matildas' run to the World Cup semi-final, Australians have been captivated and participated in developing strong national identities in music, sport, technology and consumerism.
Scaffolding Learning
At the conclusion of this unit of study students will have:
An understanding of key knowledge
- causes and consequences of significant post-1945 pop culture events, ideas and developments, and their influences on Australia (H10K38)
 - continuities and/or changes caused by pop culture after 1945 (H10K39)
 - the historical perspectives of those who experienced major pop culture developments and/or events, and how these perspectives may have changed over time, including Australian and global perspectives (H10K40)
 - different historical interpretations and debates about changes and legacies of a major pop culture development and/or event, including on Australian society (H10K41)
