North Coast Football

Year 9 student Ella Saul made the North Coast Football team to play in the CHS State Titles in Bathurst. We asked Ella to comment on this amazing achievement:

Q1. What did it take to get to the trials?

Ella: There have been two levels so far: selection through school at Lower North Coast (LNC) and then progression through selection at LNC to the North Coast. I have put many hours into this sport outside of school for WPL, so having the knowledge and skill from that has really helped throughout this selection process.

Q2. What does this mean for you to be selected at this level?

Ella: I think it is huge, I am very lucky and grateful for this opportunity. I think this will definitely help improve every aspect of my game. I am also very excited to represent my school at this level.

Q3. How many from the Mid-North Coast got selected to play?

Ella: I am not exactly sure, but Kirsten Morn and I got selected to play in Coffs Harbour at LNC and from there I got selected to play at NC in Bathurst. The team that has been selected to go to LC are all from the mid-north coast.

Thanks Ella. The North Coast Football team make their way out to Bathurst on the 16th of May for a pre-training camp and then play in the CHS State Titles from the 17th-19th of May. We will watch this development with excitement. Good luck Ella and the North Coast Team.

Lower North Coast Gala Day

The KHS Open Girls Netball Team went down to Port Macquarie on Friday 18 March to play in the Lower North Coast Gala Day.

It was a great day and as the day progressed the KHS team played better and better!

Unfortunately, we lost our first game but finished the day with a draw and winning our final game.

Fantastic effort, sportsmanship and positivity from all players representing KHS.

Well done, girls!

Local Schools Netball Day

On Wednesday 23 March Kempsey High entered three teams into the Local Schools Netball Gala Day. KHS had a Year 7/8 girls team, Year 9/10 girls team and a Year 9/10 boys team.

It was an incredibly hot day but our students had a really rewarding and fun time. Congratulation to all students who represented Kempsey High School on the day and who showed great teamwork and dedication.

Rugby Union

Maurice Kelly (Year 12) was selected for the North Coast U18s Rugby Union squad and participated at the NSWCHSSA Rugby Carnival in Coffs Harbour during Week 1, Term 2.

Maurice was an asset to the team having previously represented the North West Region last year. Against tough opposition (Sydney West, Sydney North West, Central Coast and the CHS Barbarians), Maurice scored two outstanding tries.

Well done on representing your family, Kempsey High School and your region!
